On Friday we played for the departure of the AIDAura from Portland Port. Yet again, it was a typical British Summer send off! The weather was much better for our second cruise call of the season at Portland Port! Due to a change in departure time, the passengers onboard the Pullmantur Zenith were treated to a dockside concert. Under the direction of our Deputy MD, Keith, we performed several marches, songs from the shows, Disney classics, as well as the traditional Welsh folksong All Through the Night.

The cruise season has officially started! Last night we played for the departure of the Costa Mediterranea from Portland. It was slightly wet, so we had the pleasure of playing in a converted bandstand (a bit of rain doesn't stop us!). Despite the weather we were all in good spirits, led by our President, Philip.

Following discussions between the MD and  band on Thursday 7th Feb, it was agreed not to take part at the Contest on 9th March in Torquay.

Weymouth Concert Brass are pleased to announce the appointments of Helen Brind LRSM DipABRSM CTABRSM PGCE as Musical Director, Keith Espin as Deputy Musical Director, and Philip George as President. Helen has been working with the Band for several weeks on an interim basis and we are delighted that she has accepted the offer of the permanent role. Helen comes to the Band with extensive experience in performing, and teaching and leading brass ensembles, choirs, orchestras and musical theatre groups. Keith also has many years experience in conducting brass bands and performing within a wide range of musical ensembles, covering all genres of music. Keith was the Musical Director of Corby Silver Band between 2006-2009, and 2011-2013. For the first time in the Band's history, we are proud to announce that we have appointed a President. Philip George retired from playing in September 2018 after being in the Band for 26 years. Philip has always been an asset to the Band and we wanted to honour his dedication and commitment. We are really pleased that he has accepted our invitation. Helen, Keith and Philip are fine musicians with excellent knowledge of brass band music. The future looks really bright and we are looking forward to working with them.
